Leading a healthy lifestyle, is not an option, but rather a necessity. Our working population today, leads an especially hectic lifestyle, trying to manage their jobs that come with an immense amount of pressure, and their personal life. In the struggle to do so, they can often end up neglecting their health. Since employees, dedicate so much of their time, and a big chunk of their lives, to the companies, they work for, the companies take it upon themselves to ensure the mental and physical well being of their employees. This is the idea that gave birth to the corporate step challenge. Companies and owners provide major and lucrative incentives, to the employees, after they successfully achieve a certain step count.
What is the corporate step challenge?
As mentioned above, the population that is a part of the corporate cycle, often experiences difficulty, trying to find time to actually indulge in any sort of physical activity, that can cater to the well being of their physical health as well. This becomes especially true, when people work high end jobs, in sectors like health care, finance or law. Most of these sectors, do not have a fixed working time, and more than often, personnel, ends up putting in a major chunk of their time off, and personal hour, in finessing their work. The corporate step challenge, is an initiative taken by big companies, who understand that a happy and fit employee, is a productive one, and wish to keep their employees healthy. Many companies, offer various rewards, such as discount coupons, offer vouchers for certain brands, etc, as incentive to their employees, who complete a certain number of steps. All that employees, have to do, is show a pedometer count, or a smart watch that records, daily steps, as proof, to the concerned authority, and they shall be granted with their reward.
The awards, that any company offers, depends on various factors. Sometimes companies offer small rewards, upon completing daily target of, a certain number of steps. These can be discount coupons for products or vouchers, or reservation tickets to a restaurant etc. Whereas, some companies offer unimaginable rewards, like fully paid vacation trips for an employee, and their family, or even utilities like a brand new car, if they complete an extremely high, quarterly or yearly growth. Either way, this is a win win situation for all parties involved. Employees get rewarded for maintaining their health, whereas companies are able to retain healthy and productive employees
